Collection: Jeannie Mills Pwerle
Jeannie Mills Pwerle, a renowned artist hailing from the Utopia region in the Northern Territory, situated northeast of Alice Springs, has made a significant impact in the art world. Her connection to her ancestral lands, Irrwelty and Atnwengerrp, has been a central theme in her artwork, as she has been an active member of the main painting group for more than 25 years.
One of Jeannie's primary subjects in her paintings is the Bush Yam, known locally as Anaty (also referred to as Pencil Yam). This elongated tuber, resembling a carrot, holds immense cultural value for the Utopia homelands as it serves as a traditional and cherished food source.
