Belinda Golder Kngwarreye

Belinda, born in Alice Springs in 1988, spent her childhood in Boundary Bore, one of the homelands within the Utopia community. It was during her twenties that she discovered her passion for painting under the guidance of her late grandmother, Polly Ngale, a prominent Utopian artist.

Inspired by her grandmother's legacy, Belinda's art primarily centers around the Bush Plum Dreaming. With masterful techniques and layers of paint, she skillfully portrays the fruit and foliage of the plant in different stages of ripeness. As time passed, Belinda's artistic horizon expanded, encompassing subjects like Atnwelarre (Pencil Yam), Kame (Pencil Yam Seed), and Awelye (Women's Ceremony and Body Paint Designs).

Not only did she inherit artistic wisdom from her grandmother, but Belinda also learned invaluable painting techniques from her sister, the renowned artist Janet Golder Kngwarreye. In recent years, her focus shifted to a series of captivating works titled 'My Country,' which vividly depicts her ancestral lands in Alhalkere. These artworks intertwine narratives of women's ceremonies, bush tucker, and the breathtaking Utopia landscape, making them a testament to her rich heritage and artistic talent.
