Jeannie Mills Pwerle was born in 1965. She is an Alywarr woman from the Utopia region in Central Australia. Jeannie is family to some of the most celebrated Aboriginal artists in Australia including her mother, Dolly Mills and her Uncle Greeny Purvis Petyarre (who was also a tribal and ceremonial leader). Jeannie has been a part of many exhibitions and has produced collectable works in her time. Jeannie was taught painting by a strong foundation of artists and while Yam dreaming is a common dreaming painted by artist, Jeannie has created her own unique style which is highly respected today.

Her "Yam Dreaming" paintings are well recognised in the Indigenous art world. The seed of the yam is represented with the fine white dots and the colourful brush stroked represent the vegetable and its impressive root system. The desert yam has always been an important food source in Central Australia and can be eaten raw or cooked. It has an impressive root system and commonly found in the woodland areas. Artist paint desert yams to pay homage to the significance of this plant women often perform ceremonies to show respect and encourage growth of the Desert Yam.

Jeannies palette is bright and bold and each piece has a slightly different range on the canvas. Each stroke may contain two or three colours which are painted precisely which comes together to create a flowing and eye catching piece to represent Bush yam.
