“Fire Dreaming"
Maureen Nampijinpa Hudson
100cm x 120cm
Fire Dreaming - Maureen paints a dreamtime story belonging to the Warlpiri people. It is said the blue tongue lizard man (Janpitjinpa) has sent his two Jungula sons to go hunting for food but warned them not to touch the Kangaroos around the waterhole as he was in love them them. With no luck for food, the sons killed and ate a sacred Kangaroo. As punishment, The father set the bush alight with his flashing tongue, and sent the flames after his two Jungula sons.
